© European union - 2025

The Executive Vice-President for Prosperity and Industrial Strategy, Stéphane Séjourné, the Commissioner for Energy and Housing, Dan Jørgensen, and the Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, Ekaterina Zaharieva, will host the General Assembly of the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs in Brussels.

The meeting is set to endorse the Alliance's Strategic Action Plan for 2025–2029 and further refine the targeted actions needed to support the 9 projects identified by the Alliance in October 2024.

This annual high-level event will bring together representatives of more than 350 Alliance members  to take stock of the progress made and path the way-forward for intensifying the work and advancing the implementation of the Alliance’ targets. The meeting will also offer an opportunity to discuss broader initiatives, such as Important Projects of Common European Interest (IPCEI) and Net Zero Industry Act (NZIA).

Launched in February 2024, the Industrial Alliance on SMRs aims to bolster European efforts to accelerate the development and deployment of the first SMR projects in Europe by the early 2030s. The goal is to strengthen the nuclear supply chain in Europe by leveraging its manufacturing and innovation capacities and enhancing EU cooperation and industrial competitiveness. The Alliance will also contribute to reinforcing nuclear skills, fostering public engagement, securing fuel supplies and exploring potential markets for SMRs, while ensuring the highest level of nuclear safety and unlocking investment potential.
